smart is the first manufacturer worldwide to present its entire range with a conventional combustion engine or as an electric version
Now alongside the two seater and convertible there is also a four door electric model.
The car goes from zero to 100 km per hour in 12 point 7 seconds. Its top speed is 130 km per hour and thanks to its electrically powered engine CO2 emissions are zero.
The forfour is 80 centimeters longer than its little brother, which means there is more luggage space. The rear seats fold down if needed to provide storage space. If you fold down the back rests you get 975 liters of storage space.
The forfour can run for around 155 kilometers on a full battery. Owners can opt for a sound generator to warn passers-by the car is approaching at low speeds.
Everything is tidy and neatly arranged as expected.
A small indicator above the steering wheel to the left and display graphics show the driver how much energy is flowing. If the smart is plugged in you can even preheat the interior or use the cooling system before you set off.
When linked to a normal power socket the battery needs six hours to charge up to 80 per cent capacity. The optional fast charge achieves the same capacity at a public charging station or with a domestic wall box in just 45 minutes.
In Germany the electric drive four-seater will set you back 22 thousand 600 euros....but you will get a 4,380 euro premium for going green.
